US President Donald Trump reportedly lashed out at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a phone call on June 1, telling him, "What the f*** are you doing?", as tensions between Israel and Hezbollah threatened to escalate further.
According to Axios, citing unnamed US officials and sources familiar with the call, Trump was angered by Israeli military actions in Lebanon, which he believed could jeopardise ongoing US-Iran negotiations.
The report alleged that Trump urged Netanyahu to avoid further escalation, particularly any major strike on Beirut.
Trump later described the call as "very productive" and claimed Netanyahu had agreed not to launch a large-scale operation in Beirut. He also suggested that efforts were underway to prevent further attacks between Israel and Hezbollah.
However, Netanyahu subsequently maintained that Israel would continue operations against Hezbollah and reserved the right to strike additional targets, including in Beirut, if attacks on Israel persisted.
Neither the White House nor Netanyahu's office has publicly confirmed the reported remarks made during the call. The details remain based on media reports citing anonymous sources.
