Viral Video of Parents Letting Child Defecate Into Bin at KLIA Sparks Fury

A video circulating on Threads has gone viral after it allegedly showed two adults, believed to be the child's parents, holding the child over a rubbish bin and allowing the child to defecate in public.

According to accounts circulating online, the adults were said to be from China, and the incident allegedly took place at Kuala Lumpur International Airport while they were waiting at a boarding gate.

A separate post also went viral criticising the parents, claiming that fellow passengers had to put up with the foul smell while cleaners were left to clean the soiled rubbish bin.

"Where has people's manners gone? The toilet is so close, yet they still couldn't bring their child there to poop. They can simply let their child leave smelly faeces in this rubbish bin. Shouldn't this kind of thing be punished with community service? Pity the cleaner who has to clean this rubbish bin, and pity the passengers who have to put up with the foul smell. After that, the mother could even go and wash her hands in the toilet. Please have some manners in public places... So dirty"

Singapore has also seen similar incidents involving individuals believed to be Chinese nationals, who have drawn public attention over alleged unhygienic behaviour.

In Feb 2025, a man believed to be a tourist was filmed urinating into the Singapore River near Clarke Quay. According to a witness, one of the man's companions spoke in Mandarin and attempted to downplay the incident.

The video sparked public outrage and was subsequently reported to the police.

In Jan 2025, a 41-year-old Chinese national, Li Guorui, was fined the maximum $2,000 after pleading guilty to urinating on the handrail of an escalator at Outram Park MRT station while intoxicated. The incident was filmed by commuters and widely circulated online.
